I love these stories but I wish they would tell us more about the "Whys". Why was the letter Z dropped? Why did Michelangelo hate the Sistine Chapel? I would hate it too if I had hung upside down all those years painting it. Hahaha
mjbchloe, more likely because Pope Julius II forced him to to the task. Having to be on his back for so long would definitely have aggravated his attitude, but he didn’t want to do it in the first place. His passion was sculpting as is noted by Perk below. His first major work was the Pieta which was carved from a single block of marble and completed in 1500 at the advanced age of 25. He may be best known for David, but I would argue the Pieta is his finest effort.
kbow, I am well aware of that, however as you know in the case of both of those words the X is pronounced as Z. Which is an example of what my colleague who was learning English found confusing.
