Very interesting. Marconi didn't invent the radio either, Tesla did. The patent company let Marconi have the patent even though Tesla already had it. Tesla won a lawsuit years later but the schoolbooks still teach Marconi. Tesla also invented modern day electricity but didn't get credited for that either. The list goes on & on.

The story about Galileo is very interesting. The Dutch invented the device to observe things better at a distance, but the Dutch ruler decided it was a WAR SECRET, SINCE IT SUPPOSEDLY GAVE ADVANTAGE TO AN ARMY THE FACT OF OBSERVING THE ENEMY AT A SAFE DISTANCE. THE SECRET, THOUGH, WAS FILTERED TO iTALY AND GALILEO ADOPTED IT FOR CELESTIAL OBSERVARVATION. WHAT GALILEO DID INVENT WAS THE INVERTER PAIR OF LENSES, SINCE THE ORIGINAL DUTCH LENSES SHOWED THE IMAGE UPSIDE DOWN.

Samuel Morse developed the most practical telegraph which was in use for a long time. Edison started out as a telegrapher working for one of the US telegraph companies, he would have known the Morse code instead out. Edison took or otherwise had the credit for many inventions. The light bulb already existed, he or his team improved it and made it cheaper. Edison had an illogical hatred of Tesla's alternating current system and tried hard to "junk" it. Science and practicality won.

I knew about Edison taking advantage of technology that his team worked to create. I think this is still done by pharmaceutical companies that enlist scientists to solve many ailments. These people are still on the payroll of those that employ them.
