14 most beautiful and extraordinary churches in the world

I agree with those who have said Sagrada Familia was unfairly omitted here. Must admit that I’m not too fond of the modern ones. Nothing beats the architecture, atmosphere and acoustics of a towering Romanesque or Gothic cathedral. Many of them took centuries to build.

How could you omit Segrada Familia in Barcelona, should be at the top! And what about Notre Dame and Sacre Coeur in Paris?

You missed the oddest cathedral of them all: the Salt Cathedral, buttl, rather CARVED inside a mountain of salt in Colombia, about 50 km from Bogota. A group of miners were caught inside the salt mine and made a vow to the virgin Mary that if they lived, they would build a chapel for her carving the salt. Then, the project got out of hand, and they built a huge cathedral that is dazzling when the lights are turned on , since it's buried inside the mountain. You have to walk along a 200 yards tunnel to access it.

There are so many beautiful and Spectacular Churches in Barcelona Spain and you have none of them

Three of my children had their high school graduation ceremony at the Crystal Cathedral and I have sang there in a mass choir also.

Beautiful churches. But did you really have to pick two from Russia? There are so many you could have picked another one.

Durham Cathedral in Durham city is without doubt the most beautiful wand awe inspiring in the world Set on a hill next to Durham Castle and towering above the River Wear totally incredible

The interior of St. Josephat’s Basilica in Milwaukee is incredible. You’d think you were in St. Peter’s.

What no Westminster Abbey!!?

Segrada Familia is missing as is the cathedral in Cologne, Germany.

I would choose Salisbury Cathedral, the Sacre Coeur in Paris and the Kaiser Wilhelm Gedächtniskirche in Berlin.
