I found this very interesting to read, they join a host of other "forgotten" people, worldwide. As Tinker Taylor said, reminiscent of how the indigenous people, not only in america, Australia and many other places, were treated by so-called superior ethnic groups, mostly of European origins. Here in Oz things are still not right.

I know of the Ainu from crossword puzzles and I know of their discrimination by the Japanese, but it it was interesting to learn of their customs.

I had heard of them but believed they were the ancient forebears of the Japanese, not a still living race. But the whole world is full of human invasions - the aborigine's invaded Australia, the American Indians invaded North America, the Celts invaded most of Europe, they were not the originals where they now live, so stop complaining about one of the most successful, a small tribe from Northern Europe (the Angles - well they gave their name to the English and the language).
