I wonder if anyone else knows the meaning of Shoes on the Danube. It represents the shooting of Jewish men, women and children of Budapest into the Danube by the Hungarian Nazis during the Nazi occupation of Hungary in WWII. It is haunting and disturbing, and I stark reminder of the depths to which humanity can sink.

Chriss Crockford, if my mother were alive, she'd say someone needs to pick up those shoes and put them in the closet.

For me No 13 is the most incredible (although it is hard to choose from them). A chilling Sculpture in Wroclaw, Poland depicts a group of 14 lifelike people, sinking into the ground on one side of Swidnicka Street, and reemerging on the other side. It’s most often interpreted as a memorial to the citizens who were killed or went missing during period of martial law in Poland in the 1980s. The captivating sculpture, called Przejście (meaning “Passage” or “Transition”) is also known in English as the Monument of the Anonymous Passersby or the Anonymous Pedestrians. Created by the artist Jerzy Kalina, it consists of 14 ordinary citizens, 7 on each side of the street, descending and re-ascending into the sidewalk.

lmoores, The Kelpies name reflected the mythological transforming beasts possessing the strength and endurance of ten horses; a quality that is analogous with the transformational change and endurance of Scotland's inland waterways. The Kelpies represent the lineage of the heavy horse of Scottish industry and economy, pulling the wagons, ploughs, barges, and coalships that shaped the geographical layout of the Falkirk area
