the Channel Tunnel that Connect France with England is 50,45 km .and #1 Laerdal Tunnel is only 24 ,5 km ,

These are road tunnels - not train tunnels. Writing from NZ I'm thinking the Channel Tunnel is NOT a road tunnel - it is a train tunnel so the Laerdal would be the longest road tunnel.

Ilias Tsiabardas, I INSISTED THAT I GO THROUGH THAT TUNNEL ON MY TRIP FROM PARIS TO ENGLAND. OFCOURSE, ONE CAN ONLY "IMAGINE" THAT ONE IS UNDER THE SEA AS IT CANNOT BE SEEN. . STILL A GREAT THRILL FOR ME.

How about the spiral train tunnel in BC? It spirals through a mountain so the train does not have to climb a steep gradde. It is now a historic park

I'm always amazed at the capability of engineers and work crews that built tunnels under rivers many years ago such as the Detroit tunnels , one for trains and another for vehicles, as well as those constructed through mountains in Europe etc. When drilling from opposite ends I wonder if any did not join properly using the surveying equipment at that time

I agree with Ian and Ruthanna, the Sequoia tree in California was damaged in the fires and winds. It fell in January, 2017 and shattered due to being partial dead.

The tunnel in Whittier Alaska is the oddest one I have seen. It is a one lane vehicle tunnel and has the railroad tracks for the train to come and go to town as well. It has traffic lights on each end. You can go in on one half hour and go out on the other half hour. The train takes precedence though so everyone has to wait for the train. The only other ways into Whittier is by boat or plane! And boy do they get the snow!

The Spiral Tunnel at the Kicking Horse Pass in the Canadian Rocky Mountains is another amazing tunnel. Indeed it is designated as a National Historic Site, and is quite something to view

Ian - the Sequoia tree tunnel you are thinking of was the drive-thru one. It was rather narrow as it was cut when cars were a lot smaller. I think the tree got so old and rotten that they had to take it down.
