#1 Walmart has different names

The company operates under 55 different names. It’s known as Walmart in the USA and Canada, Asda in the UK and Best Price in India.

#2 The founder of Walmart once had to dance hula on camera

Walmart was founded by Sam Walton. In 1984, he made a bet with his chief executive officer, David Glass. Glass thought that Walmart could reach an 8% pretax profit. Walton didn’t believe in it. He said that he’d go out and do a hula dance on Wall Street if Glass was right. Well, Walmart made it. Sam Walton had to keep his word — he danced with several professional hula dancers on Wall Street.

#3 Walmart has a museum

You can find the Walmart Museum in Bentonville, Arkansas. It bears Sam Walton’s name. By the way, admission is free.

#4 Walmart is one of the largest private employers in the world

The company has over 2.3 million employees worldwide. If they were to move to the same place, it would be about the same size as Houston, Texas.

#5 Robots are everywhere

Walmart tries to optimize everything it can. That’s why the company uses robots to save its associates’ time. These robots wash floors, check shelf stock and look for price errors.

#6 The Germans didn’t like Walmart

The company had to close its stores in Germany. It turned out that the Germans were not impressed with American cultural values.

#7 They created their own electricity company

It’s called Texas Retail Energy. This company is the main way for Walmart to reduce their bills. Their main intent was to purchase electricity for their stores at wholesale prices.

I certainly hope that Walmart is never considered a beacon of “American cultural values”. Wiping out small local businesses, locking people in stores overnight to work mandatory overtime, no overtime pay, substandard wages, no medical insurance coverage. Those are some of the other historical and current aspects of Walmart. You did not include them in your facts about Walmart. You might mention some facts about the massive wealth of the Walton family forged penny-by-penny on the backs of slave-wages pay of foreign workers and underpaid American workers. To top it off, other billionaires give at least a decent portion to charity. Walton’s are believed to give about 0.07% to charity. Mind you, no one is required to be charitable, but with all they get, one would expect them to give back.

I'll shop in Walmart if I can't get an item somewhere else, and I do appreciate their food prices, now that inflation has topped 6 per cent. But I don't think the use of robots has anything to do with making things easier for the "associates." Its real intent is to reduce the number of human staff needed. That's one reason why I'll never use an automated checkout machine at Walmart or any other retail store.. Nobody benefits when hardworking cashiers are out of a job. .

ELLEN S. Thats the thing about AMERICA.... You don't like it no one is forcing U to go their and shop.. BUT They (WALMART) MUST BE DOING something right . They are employing over 2.3 million people.. Ellen Sheehan, Other fascinating facts: In the last 5 years they have done away with Holiday pay, Sunday premiums, my share payouts, Absences went front 9 in 6 months down to 5 ( actually 4, at 5 your fired). Annual pay raises went from based on performance to across the board minimum raise (so the hard workers get the same raise as the slug who hides and spends all their time on their phone.) If you celebrate holidays you can use PTO, otherwise you work. By the way, if you request the day off they refuse it and if you call in you get hit with 2 absences instead of one.

After I retired from my employment as a correctional counselor I worked at Walmart for ten more years. I was always treated well and it still is my favorite store to shop in! Sam had a very good idea when he started Walmart!!.
