I went over a cliff in a car and the car went over end over end 3 times as we went down the cliff in 1967. This all happened in very slow motion to me and I can still recall every detail to this day. There were no seatbelts yet on my 1953 Chevy. So I can still remember every time I hit my head and shoulders on the roof, banged myself back down on the dashboard, etc. I can tell you what I saw out the window at each turn, etc. I still relive these moments over and over in my mind when I am awake and sometimes when I am asleep... always in slow motion.

Time appears passes faster the older we get because of the percentage rule. When you are 5 years old 1 year is 20% or 1/5 of your life which is a large part of the life but when you reach 75 years old 1 year is only 1.3% 1/75 of your life which makes you feel that 1 year isn't much of your life in perceived time.

We don't understand for how long our nap lasted and thus we don't understand what time is it now. That has NOTHING to do with our perception of time You can say the same thing about getting up in the morning

scottdn, no one is promised another day so we each get the same 24 hours each day. A 15 year old may think they have 60 years left and life goes on a certain way. (Usually very carefree) They get killed in a car accident the next day. So it’s mindset, not math. A 60 year old gets the same 24 hours. They are undergoing chemo- it feels like forever. There are too many variables and perceptions.

John Puza, except they tell us in #2 it’s because we aren’t happy. I’m not buying it.

Bruce Thompson, according to #2 you must be unhappy. If you’re happy time “lasts longer”. I’m not buying it. I’m happy and time is zipping by!!

#1,2 and 3 contradict each other. Every persons perception is different (except age groups?) Happy? Time lasts longer (except old people who think time is passing fast?) Depressed? It slows down? (Except old people who think it’s passing fast- are all old people happy?) I’ll go with everyone’s perception of time is different. I’ve had the slow down of time in an accident- it is bizarre.

Don't know the details but I have sometimes been able to slow time down so I can finish a task easily - if I knew how I did it I'd be rich.
